Punta del Este has an airport about 20 kilometers (12 miles) from the city center: Aeropuerto Internacional C/C Carlos A. Curbelo de Laguna del Sauce (PDP). Aerolineas Argentinas, Latam Airlines, Amaszonas Uruguay , Amaszonas Paraguay, Azul, Sky, Austral and Andes are the airlines that offer flights to and from Punta del Este. The airport is connected to the city center by bus and taxi.

By Car

If you prefer to be flexible and you are planning to travel a bit in Uruguay you can think about renting a car in Montevideo. Punta del Este is connected with Montevideo by a well-maintained four-lane divided highway (Ruta Interbalnearia) so that you can comfortably reach Punta del Este in approximately 2 hours.

By Foot

You can easily explore Punta del Este by foot. If you are not in a hurry, the entire length of the peninsula can be covered in about two hours.

By Bicycle

Another good option to get around is by bike. You can rent a bike at a cost of about $15 per day and since Punta del Este is quite flat you do not have to be an athlete to drive around town.

By Bus

Buses are an inexpensive option for getting around the larger metropolitan area.

By Taxi

Taxis are relatively expensive and are only necessary if you want to visit places outside of Punta del Este.
